[b]Dora the Explorer is now an illegal immigrant!![/b]The popular kid's figure from the Nikelodian channel is being used by campaigners against the new immigration law in Arizona as a symbol of their cause.Dora has been used to teach millions of American children basic Spanish phrases on her TV show.
But a doctored image on the internet now shows the cartoon heroine with a black eye in a police mugshot.
Her alleged crimes? Illegal border crossing and resisting arrest.What is your opinion on this? | |
| | What I think About the New Dora the Explorer. | | I don't think it is such a big deal. The new show is meant for pre-teens not little kids. They are still going to keep the old Dora running. Kids grow up and so should Dora.
People are also complaining about her outfit. Young tweens wear skirts and leggings. Its not like she isn't wearing leggings. And she is really cute. That bob haircut was getting a little old so I like her long flowing hair.
They also did the same thing with the Rugrats. They had a new show called Rugrats All Grown Up but no one made such a big deal.

| Dora the explorer | | Cartoon have a huge influence on our kids, it plants ideas and behaviors in their minds and no matter how hard we try to modify those ideas they are fixed with glue. the kid can relate and identify with cartoon characters more than he does with us, the parents. It’s very important that we choose the type of cartoon our children see and make sure that it suits their age. Kids can become so attached to those characters, they can spend all day watching cartoons without being bored and that’s more parenting than we could ever do. We can’t compete with those characters but at least we can choose our battles.
As a single mother I went through a lot of cartoon buddies, went through different phases with all of them,the initial love and satisfaction, the rising doubts and the most difficult phase hating and banning.It could save you a lot of time and a lot of pain if you could just watch about 10 episodes of any cartoon before exposing your child to it.through those episodes you can form a very good idea about the characters and what type of influence they represent.

| | Dora The Explorer is getting a makeover | | What do you think of this? I personally prefer Dora to stay young. I dont think she needs to be a 'tween. This is a result of Nick's attempt to widen the range of their viewers. With the older Dora coming up, parents must be more attentive and should always ready to guide their kids' viewing. | |

| which do you like better Dora the explorer or go Diego? | | I like go Diego better because there's more to it, he helps animals and shows you there habitat, Dora just does maps and how to get to places. I don't I guess they are both good, my kids like Diego better although they'll watch both shows with no problem. | |

| | Do you let your kids watch Dora the Explorer? | | So I've never really watched Dora the Explorer before but I had heard so much about it. I heard it was a good, clean, educational show that kids love. So a few months ago I turned it on and Diego happened to be on there with Dora. I only saw about 4 minutes of this episode but it was something about a whale. Diego starts singing and in the song he goes, "if you look a whale then you are fat, if you look like a whale then you are fat!" Whoa!!!! There is no way I want my child listening to a song telling people they're fat! Has anyone else seen this episode? Did I hear it wrong? | Dora the Explorer or Go, Diego, Go? | | My two year old son watches both shows on NickJr and when I asked him which show he likes better he said Dora. Do your kids watch both shows and if so which one do they like more? Which one do you like more? I like Dora better, I know they came up with Diego for boys but we like Dora better anyway. | |
