myLot Discussions on Upper Deck Trading Cards | | Sports Cards, Do you sell or collect? | | I love selling and collecting sports cards, it can be any sport but I prefer NASCAR cards or game used cards, their unique and can be worth a lot of money. Are there any other sports fans out there that sell or collect sports cards? and if so which sports and why do you like those the best? I recently bought four boxes of cards and I'm looking into keeping some of the ones I want but selling most of them on e-Bay since many are just base cards but it'll make a good start to selling and hopefully getting returning buyers/bidders. I wish it was easier to find game used/race used cards, I just think it's so cool that they make cards with game used jersey, race win and race used tire and fire suit etc. I'm trying to get better at knowing which boxes or companies are worth my money, I know Press Pass is very popular in the NASCAR world, Upper Deck is a big company but I see some of these collectors that seem to find all the awesome cards, do they just know what to look for or is it pure luck? I know most cards are limited with serial numbers so their hard to come by.I would love to hear from other sellers or collectors, it's a fun hobby of mine and I'm always looking for others...
| | Hawk swoops from Fenway Park railing, attacks girl on school tour | | Once again, an A-Rod got an unfriendly welcome from the home of Red Sox Nation. This time, it was 13-year-old Alexa Rodriguez and not the Yankees All-Star third baseman Alex Rodriguez. She was touring Fenway Park on a school trip Thursday and was attacked by a resident red-tailed hawk that drew blood from her scalp. Rodriguez wasn’t seriously hurt.Vince Jennetta, a teacher who chaperoned her class trip from Memorial Boulevard Middle School in Bristol, Conn., told The Boston Globe that Alexa is “a little shaken, but OK.”The hawk was perched on a railing in the upper deck behind home plate while the group toured the stadium. The hawk flew at the girl and swooped with its talons extended, scratching her scalp.A single egg lay in the hawk’s nearby nest in an overhang near the stadium’s press booth. The nest and egg were removed at the direction of state wildlife officials.http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ap-fenway-hawkattack&prov=ap&type=lgns | |
| | I did it | | I found a way to get teen agers to do their chores. Our yard has needed to be mowed for a while now. We have had so much rain lately that it is really growing. My grandson lives with me and is supposed to do it. A friend of his has invited him to go to New York over spring break. Well I told him he had to have the yard mowed by the time they left next Friday night. I had my doubts that he would get it done because he also has an after school job. He and his friend are out there mowing it right now. He is really excited about going. They talked about driving up their by them selves last year. The friend's parent are taking the boys. My grandson is a good kids but hates chores of any kind. He does them but usually give me some grief first. They had me go out on the upper deck to see how they were doing. They had mowed a big I Heart You. | |
| | My POV on the EMIGRANTS | | Me and my fiance have recently finished reading the first book in a collection of four books, the book is called The Emigrants by Vilhelm Moberg and it is about a group of sixteen Swedish emigrants who get tired of their hardships and life in the old country and decide to embark on a journey across the ocean to the new world of The North American Republic, the book was divided into two parts, the first part was about their life and them deciding to take the voyage, and the second part of "The Emigrants" was about them being at sea on the ship Charlotta, which is a small ship with only a little room, and is not very healthy and the Captain is a man who does not like being on land,as they made the long and and treacherous journey to find homes on a new continent, the book ended with the ship arriving at the Harbor of New York where it tied to the pier The second book which is entitled "Upon A Good Land" starts out with them on the ship, after three days the emigrants were able to leave the ship and they hire a Swedish guide to translate the American language for them, and the group of sixteen who loses a member at sea,end up gaining an elderly woman who is going to see her son,and they are... | |
| | A sad Cat Story | | One day, i saw a very weak pale cat in front of our house. I took it and care for it. when my mom found out, she ordered me to sent it away. i like cats and their furry skin. but i didn't do it i let her stay in the my drawer where she used to hide eve though i want her in my upper deck bed. so, she stayed with me for almost a month cause of the bad weather here. after teh weather passed, i let it go. after a few days i saw it on side walk, dead, mayhave been run over by a vehicle or something. it had a kitten but i couldn't find it anymore. I wish i can turn back and never let it go.so sad. hopes that another would be in the house again. and when it happens again i will not make the same mistake nor let it go. | |
| | Adventure in Transportation: Masbate City, Philippines | | A trip to the Province of Masbate is a long one, if I may say. My traveling companion and friend, a photographer named Nanette, commented, “The amount of travel to the U.S. is much shorter than this,” which only takes about 14 hours by plane. Here’s why.At 8 o’clock in the morning on May 5, we left Bacolod City for Cebu via a Ceres bus. After a few hours, the bus boarded a barge, along with several other buses and private cars, for a one hour and a half voyage to the island of Cebu. We had to travel for another couple of hours to get to Cebu City. We reached the city proper at 4 o’clock, where we got down and took a cab to Pier No. 5, where the Trans Asia ship, M/V Asia Indonesia, bound for Masbate City, was docked. We bought our tickets and were soon on board. We bought some pusô, rice cooked inside a square pouch of woven coconut leaves, and some cold chicken barbeque steeped in dark orange color. Perhaps, it had too much atsuete, but then it’s their trademark here. We had our dinner at the upper deck of the ship, while the sun was still very high. Then after a few hours, we slept. The boat left the dock at around 10pm. I woke up unintentionally every few hours,... | |
| | New Luxury Jet offers suites with double beds! | | This particular plane will offer two suites, 60 business class and 399 economy class seats. "Each suite, enclosed by sliding doors, is fitted with a leather upholstered seat, a table, a 23-inch flat screen TV, laptop connections and a range of office software. A separate bed folds up into the wall. Two of the suites can be joined to provide double beds. On the upper deck, business class seats can turn into wide flat beds, while the economy class seats on both decks have more leg and knee room, the carrier says. Business class passengers also have a bar area." Very cool for the ultra rich...many paid several thousands of dollars for this first flight. The couple in one of the suites paid $50,000. It is good to know that the economy seats will have more leg and knee room! LOL | |

Kanye West, Fall Out Boy, Alicia Keys Are Out Of This World At Live Earth
'Music can change people's minds. We'll see what happens,' Fall Out Boy's Andy Hurley says.By James Montgomery, with additional reporting by Shaheem Reid
Del.icio.us Digg Newsvine Send Print You Tell Us EAST RUTHERFORD, New Jersey — "You all came to this concert," Melissa Etheridge opined midway through a smoldering evening set at the Live Earth concert in Jersey, "because you are Americans." (Check out behind-the-scenes footage, on-the-ground coverage, fan reactions, videos and more on MTV's new You R Here blog; watch Alicia Keys, Kelly Clarkson, John Mayer and more chat with John Norris at the NJ concert; and see performance pics of Rihanna, Linkin Park, Jack Johnson and more.) That's one way of looking at it. You could probably also argue that plenty of the 60,000 or so people who made their way out to Giants Stadium on Saturday (July 7) were concerned citizens of the world, plunking down their hard-earned cash to make a statement that the real fight against global warming begins today (though this is probably wishful thinking). Or perhaps everyone was just...
| | up or down... choices should be made | | i got used to having my own bed since i was young. but when i entered college, i had to rent and share a room with my friend. to maximize the space, the landlady used a double deck bed for us. i choose to be on the upper deck! i prefer to be on top because i was slimmer than my friend and i don't want my bed to sitted when other friends would come over. i also like the feeling of being close to the ceiling, which i designed by putting glow in dark stars.
have you tried sleeping on a double deck? which bed would you choose?
