myLot Discussions on Pound Puppies Stuffed Animals| I got a dog I got dog!!!! | | We got a 13 week old puppy from the pound. She looks completely Dachshund, better known as weiner dogs. I don't know her history if she is mixed or not, but I don't care. I love her so much already and have only had her three days. She is so sweet. I am training her to sleep on her bed. Which she does then jumps up on my daughters bed in the middle of the night. lol Who knew a long short puppy could jump that high. House training is working better than I thought. She has had accidents but not many. I just want to say, try the pound for dogs and puppies before buying. Some of those dogs will be put to sleep, killed, for nothing more than just being born. When we are ready for another pet we are going to the pound. And on a last thought, don't just go once, go a couple of times, until you find the right dog that fits in with your family. Don't just pick one for the sake of taking something home. We have been looking for about 3 months. Next we are going to try and find another pet rat. My oldest moved out and took her rat with her. Who knows maybe the pound will have one looking for a new home. The pound has all kinds of animals. Ok, now I am going to do a happy dance.:)
| | Pet store pets or pound pets? | | I always believed that it was best to adopt a pet from the local animal shelter. I feel they are just pets that are waiting for someone to love, a nice loving home where they can live out their days. On the other hand I walk through these pet shops and see these kittens and puppies sitting in their tiny prisons trying in vain to catch someones eye and make them fall in love and save them from pet store hell. I think that at least at the SPCA and other shelters the animals have had their shots been fixed and looked over by a vet. I think a lot of the pets in pet stores are from puppy mills and other unscrupulous places, don't have their shots or been fixed. For me it would be a pound pet, how about you? | |
| | which Breed... | | Im looking for a breed of dog that is calm, smart and easy to train....which breed would be best for me | |
| | You will be happy to know. | | For all of you that responded in disgust (and even those with encouragement) to my previous discussion about getting rid of the new dog. I have decided to keep trying. Sometimes she gives me this look with those little sad eyes. I just can't do it! I can't take her back now. Forget that I was feeling like a failure. She actually has gotten into my heart already. So I sat the kids down, my daughter didn't really comprehend much, and explained that we are keeping the dog. My son was happy about this, he was upset about taking her back. I told him he is going to get a little more responsibility with the dog and I am sure that is going to help my sanity. Just wanted to let you all know. | |
| | What Was Your Favorite Childhood Game/Activities? | | For some of us childhood was a memorable and happy time. There are stories to share about growing up, about the time when we tasted something for the first time, about the scars that we got from falling out of trees and the list can go on and on. As I child, I loved playing dress up, climbing trees, building sand castles, playing musical chairs, playing hide & go seek, jump rope, hop scotch, bike race, guessing games, double dutch, and could go on and on. I still like playing them. But my all time favorite childhood game was 'duck, duck, goose.' What was your favorite childhood game or activity. | |

| | Dogs In Danger | | Most of us (I hope) are starting to realize the value of rescue dogs, shelter dogs, "pound puppies,"—whatever you want to call them, they can be a wonderful addition to your family. Adopting from a rescue organization is also a much better alternative than buying a dog from a pet store that may have come from a puppy mill, where dogs are mistreated.
Dogs In Danger is an organization that helps find homes for dogs that will otherwise be euthanized. Here is a brief description from their website:go to this link to find out how you can help: http://www.dogsindanger.com/aboutus.jsp
WHO ARE They?
DogsInDanger.com is an award winning web site owned and operated by The Buddy Fund Inc. and was founded by two dog lovers, Alex Aliksanyan & Brenda Bush, both directors of The Buddy Fund. The website was launched in October 2007 with the goal of: 1. Getting as many of these dogs adopted into loving homes as possible, before their time runs out; and2. Raising awareness of the number of dogs being killed in shelters.
The co-founders dedicated their respective skills, The Buddy Fund provided the funding, and the shelters listed the dogs.
The founders have many more ideas to implement, all...

| | IM NOT CRAZY! Does anyone else remember these? | | Okay. For the past few weeks I have been working at home, caring for my grandmother as she has been ill for some time, and requires 24/7 care now. I have to say this is the most fun I have had at any job! We have spent the last week talking about our family, and myself and my brother and all the weird things we did when we were children. ANYWAY, we started to talk about all the weird toys we had when we were little. ( seriously..we had EVERYTHING haha )I'm talking things you can't find in any toy stores now ANYWHERE. Maybe you might find them on Ebay- but that's about the only place. I started this topic because I SWEAR I'M NOT NUTS! haha! My brother and I had some pretty sweet toys when we were kids. My grandmother thinks I'm crazy and she has never heard of these toys and says I am making it up lol! So I am making this discussion in hopes that SOMEONE will remember some of
these weird toys we had- maybe you had them too. Here is a list of the ones I can remember that I'm SURE you can't find and if you went to a toy store to ask for them-they would look at you like you were crazy. Here is my list:Talkboy ( my brother HAD to have it haha- it was a little hand held...
