myLot Discussions on Kids Building Sets| How to teach the kids building up good study habit? | | My daughter is 5years old. She is lovely and cute except a little impatient with study. She will go to school this summer. A good study habit is very important for her. How can I guide her to build up that?
| | Is this investment safe? | | [em]lol[/em]We have to save for future needs, may be for education and marriage of kids, building a house of our own, illness, sudden illness, hospitalization, surgery etc. I think each has his own way of saving, for me the most important is easy ‘liquidity’, and higher return, this means we can get the money as and when needed. Fixed deposit in bank for 5-10 years is good, but in case of premature closure they deduct a substantial amount.[em]angry[/em]If you deposit for say one year, here in India we get only 6% per annum.
At present the price of gold is rising daily,[em]thumbup[/em]today at this moment cost of 10grams pure (24 carat) gold is 19000.00 INR (1 US$=46.00 INR), yesterday it was less by 500INR. I thought of investing my money in pure gold, have purchased gold worth 100000.00 INR. I can sell it any time, definitely at a higher price, thus it has high return (then savings account of bank) and easy liquidity. Lol, cost of gold falls at times but rises soon.
Is this investment safe? Do you save money for your kids and for your bad days? How, in what form? In banks, shares, in gold, silver etc? What is the cost of gold at your place?

| | Does anyone else sell there craft items? | | My husband and I started our own shop 2 years ago selling our crafts. He didnt think they would really sell very well, but when they did he realized that he needed to start making more stuff. So it now has become a part time thing for him when he isnt roofing he is busy in his garage working on wooden shelves, or on birdhouses. I on the other hand make ceramics, as well as knit and crochet. Then on top of that I do some plastic canvas, and embroidery. So all of that stuff gets put in the shop.My kids are now starting to learn as well how to make things that go into the shop. We make alot of wooden Kids Building blocks the kids job is to sand them, then paint them. So they are having fun doing that for the summer. My 9 year old wants to start doing tie die tshirts and sell them I told her maybe. She did them at school and loved doing it.I enjoy making things and selling them anyone else make things and sell them? | |
| | do you remember when...for people over thirty | | do you remember when playing outside til mom had to call you in for dinner was the 'in' thing? building forts and playing tag with the neighborhood kids? hardly ever being in the house at all? we didn't need cell phones...we played dodgeball and kickball i think my life as a child was so much better than kids have today...always inside worried about predators..no real freedom...i never see kids building forts anymore or neighborhoods playing games together..it's kinda sad...no wonder kids are growing up so fast...when are they really getting to be kids? | |
| | Did it always hurt to build a snowman??? | | I've just been outside for the last hour with the kids building a snowman.
When I was a kid i remember it being fun and not at all tiring.
Ok it was still fun, as my 2 year old has never really seen snow before. But oh boy! It hurt! My back is killing me now and I think I'm gonna be hurtin for a week LOL!
And i remember it being really easy to make, roll the snow in to a ball. Push it around a bit and bang you got a body! Werent that easy today! Took ages to get it going, then it was more of an odd shaped oblong! LOL
Well the kids had fun so thats the main thing! But I'm glad it don't snow that often here!
