Wow 2 days in a row of fire engine red
After a month at yellow, and don't get me wrong, I loved my yellow star--its the color of tweety bird and I love Tweety. But every time I hit a red star, the very next day it would go back down to yellowSo today when I logged in for the updates, I was almost expecting to see my star go back to a yello...and its still Fire Engine red....I don't put a lot of stock into the star rating, as I think the stars are more of a popularity contest than accuracy of how good of a member you are or are not.So here's to my Fire Engine read star for 2 daysHappy Mylotting all.Mooch
Why is fire engine red in colour?
Fire Engine has a ladder; Ladder has steps; Steps are to be climbed by foot; Foot can be measured by a ruler; Ruler can be a king or queen; Elizabeth is the queen of England; Elizabeth is also the name of a ship; Ship sails on sea; Sea has fishes; Fishes have fins; The people of Finland are also called Fins; The national flag of Finland is red in colour; Therefore FIRE ENGINE is RED in colour.
why fire engine is red in colour?
i didn't tell me your answer...
Tonka Fire Engine 32202
Hi. I have recently received a Tonka Fire Engine 32202 with the words Tonka Toronto Canada on the cab. I am looking to restore it & need ;- a)The large ladder section that sits in the top holder b)The two small ladders that fix to the side c)The two Blue lamps that sit on top of the cab. If anybody can help that would be great. Regards Stan.
Where's the Fire?
I was driving home yesterday, and saw a fire engine coming towards me in the opposite direction. All of a sudden, it put on its flashing lights, and for a second I thought it was about to take off on a call. Then I noticed a mother holding a small boy on the footpath. All the firemen were waving at the child, who was waving back with an expression of total awe on his face.I was so moved by this I had to share it. That simple action by those firemen was so kind, friendly and fun.It made me think how easy it really is to put a smile on someone's face.I'd love to hear your stories of simple, kind acts. We hear so much of the negative ... it is very refreshing to know there is some positive out there too! Let's all get warm and mushy ... lol.
Have the sirens been for you?
I heard sirens in the distance awhile ago. I thought that somebody's not having a good day. My thoughts drifted back in time when the siren stopped at my door. I had just come home from the hospital earlier that day.The wound on my leg (from heart surgery) started bleeding profusely. I couldn't get the bleeding to stop so I called 911. The fire department came, then the ambulance came and took me to the emergency room.I felt strange being the patient in the ambulance. That kind of thing happens to other people, not me:) but also very grateful to get help.Have you ever been a patient in an ambulance? How did you feel?
Just What Is It About A Man (or Women) In Uniform? Come on Ladies Please Share.
I have a perfect excuse to get fireman to wave at me as my son the minute he sees a fire engine frantically waves and of course as he is little they wave back. I personally love a man in uniform and I know of lot of others do to, why is this do you think? Men you can join in too and it is common knowledge that some like nurses uniforms etc so not just a question for the ladies here. Ellie:D
I did a truly stupid thing.
On Saturday, it was warm and I went to my niece's softball game in jeans and a short sleeved shirt. My sister and I put sunscreen on the girls because we didn't want them to get sunburnt. You guessed it. I didn't put any on me! I got so sunburnt, that I am still fire engine red, sorer than I have ever been and a million degrees to the touch. I have put every conceivable type of lotion and cream on my arms. So what was the last truly stupid thing you did?
Do you think firemen should be respected and have they help you before?
When a fire broke out, people always called for help and eventually the fire engine came and started to help. The firemen always will experience life risking situation and they always need to know how to solve each crisis. They have to use different kinds of equippment such as axe, hammer, saw, and of course water in different situation.I really think that being a fireman is a high risk career and look at the firemen from thetwo towers of the world trade centre a few years ago,you will know what I mean. But still, I heard of some firemen in some countries are not professional at all. These kind of firemen are the bda guys because they won't do a thing unless people pay them .But I think that most of them are good and just some of them are not good, that's all. What do you think?Did you have any experience with the help by some firemen before?
Teaching Methods
Moms, teachers, tutors, ANYONE??? Please give me some pointers (or even a reality check) where it comes to teaching my son the letters and numbers! My son is 4 YO, in his second year of preschool, very smart and extremely animated! I have been working with him for the better part of a year, trying to teach him letters and numbers. HE'S NOT GETTING IT and I need help. Here's what happens: we sit down with coloring books, flash cards, puzzles, whatever... ME: "what letter is this?" HIM: "i don't know, tell me" ME: "it's an A" HIM: "OKAY" We do this until we get thru 4 or five letters. I always alternate to remind him, so I'll show him B and C then ask about the A again. He NEVER gets it. It's like 5 or 6 seconds later and he's forgotten it! Now, I can show him a book of objects and tell him what they are; trucks, drill, balloon, fire engine... He gets it after only one or two reminders! He asks "what's that" I tell him and he remembers. WHY can't he remember A,B,C like it's an object? Now, it's very frustrating; maybe I need a reality check... am I pushing too hard? Am I expecting too much? Should I just leave it to the experts (teachers)? Also, he gets things...
