| Have you ever built a house? | | Dollhouse that is. I am currently working on one that my dad built for my daughter. It was given to her in 1991 for Christmas when she was 9 years old. When my ex and I divorced in 2004 I didn't have room for it, so he kept it stored in his garage. Some of the shingles are missing, but I have replacements. I'll be putting in all new carpet, and new furniture. It is a 3 story Victorian style dollhouse. It will probably end up staying at my house lol, unless she has a little girl, she's pregnant with her first and finds out tomorrow. If not, my other granddaughter will be able to play with it at my house when she gets a little older, she's only 2. I was wondering, have you ever built a dollhouse or owned one? | |
| | yahoooooo I got some finished | | I have now listed two of my dollhouse miniatures on ebay. Wish me luck everyone. Here is a pic of the breakfast set I will post more pics as responses come in. The mug will be fixed before the item is shipped (I stated that in the auction as well). I started them at 99 cents and hope they sell. They are all done in ceramics and handpainted.

| | Have You Ever Had a Dollhouse | | Have you ever owned a dollhouse? Did you have one as a kid? Where did it come from?I've always been fasinated with dollhouses. I've never had one of my own but a friend had one when I was young and we played for hours on end with it. I've now gotten a chart to start stitching one that I really like. Although it's not the same as having one you can touch and move things around in it's about as close as I'll get right now:) Something about everything being so tiny that just amazes me. Some of the minitures they make for the houses are so perfectly made it looks like they were shrunk down from the real thing.I read an article once about a man who was in prison and was building one in there. | | Is it the end? | | WOOHOO I had two items sell on etsy this week!! It had been a long dry spell for me that lasted almost a year. I sold a ceramic bathtub for dollhouses and two ceramic easter eggs.
I am so happy. I am hoping to get more sells. I really need the boost. I am working on several things right now to list on etsy.
I have abandoned ebay for now. No sales there and fees too high.

I would try to be good all the time. I ask for barbie dolls and dollhouses. I found out that He didn't really exist when I saw that my mom and dad were the ones who were giving me presents. | |
| | Opening A Flood Gate... | | Have you ever suddenly remembered something from your childhood that you had absolutely no memory of? Did it bother you that it had been so well blocked in your mind?A while back, my oldest brother and I were helping my Mom paint a farmhouse they had bought. My oldest brother and I got into a kind of joking argument and he made a crack about at least he never needed a shrink. I laughed and said well, neither have I. He looked at me kind of weird and told me that yes I did and had been to one alot as a kid. I told him he was full of bullsh*t and we let it drop. But it bothered me all day. That night I called my Stepmom and asked her outright if I'd ever been to a shrink and she said I had when I was a kid. She described the office and such and it was like a flood gate opening. All of a sudden I had all these memories of going to this office, the toys I played with, the Doctor. She said I had to go for awhile b/c I had problems with nightmares after my parents divorce. It shocked me that up until that moment I had no recollection whatsoever about ever having been to a shrink or having any kind of counceling. It all started at about 11:30 on a friday night. the army's USO sponsors trips to all around europe, so we decided to finally take advantage and got these tickets. the bus picked us up at about midnight and we began the eight hour drive to amsterdam.
Between the mandatory stops in between and how cold it was outside, this was really beginning to suck. as i snacked on my late night dinner of pringles and delicious german chocolate from one of the rest stops, i thought more than once that this might have been a bad idea, and i could see myself laying in the nice warm bed we left behind for all of this. we didn't have the forethought to bring any pillows, so trying to rest was a real pain in the neck.
our arrival was originally scheduled for about 9 am. the USO escort and the bus driver kept getting off the bus and talking, and by now it was about 10:30/11 am. our driver was so terribly lost and apparently this was his first trip there. the company he worked for didn't give him any maps, either. this guy was visibly pissed and just didn't give a fu*k. he stopped in the middle of this one road and just started backing up.... | |

Part of the contents of the museum was auctioned last week and the prize dollhouse, a nineteenth-century Scottish building called Hope Villa, 55 inches wide by 37 inches tall, sold for an amazing $225,500. Could have bought a nice full-sized house for that amount. The sale by Noel Barrett was a huge success, bringing almost $2.5 million.
